While wandering in search of breakfast, this place caught my eye. Although it may not be a traditional chachaanteng, the quality and cleanliness are evident. I arrived around 8:15 AM, and the restaurant was bustling with locals. I ordered the Hong Kong classic: satay beef noodles with scrambled eggs and accompanied by toast, along with iced milk tea (less ice) for a total of $42+3. The satay beef was flavorful, with fresh, tender slices that stood out. However, the noodle broth was somewhat plain, prompting me to add chili oil for an extra kick. The scrambled eggs and buttered toast were simple, yet the thick toast was a delightful touch that I appreciated. Though the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed, my food arrived promptly. Be prepared to settle your bill at a self-service machine that only accepts e-payments or Octopus cards. Simple yet delicious, if you’re concerned about tidiness this is the place you’d go for. A place to stop by for a quick and affordable breakfast but not a must visit.

A lovely local cha chaan teng offering delicious food at very affordable prices. While the service is minimal and dishes can take a while to arrive, the overall experience is still enjoyable. Hygiene could use some improvement, but if you're after tasty comfort food on a budget, it's worth a visit.

Tried this place for the first time. Quite good food, friendly service, and pretty quiet place AI introduction: Men Wah Bing Teng (敏華冰廳) is a popular and nostalgic Hong Kong-style café chain, known locally as a cha chaan teng. It is owned by Maxim’s Caterers Limited, a major food and beverage group in the region. The original restaurant first operated in the 1970s, capturing the classic atmosphere of old Hong Kong. The brand was successfully revived in 2016, blending its historic charm with modern operations. The café has numerous convenient locations across Hong Kong. These are often found in busy districts and major shopping centers like Causeway Bay and Mong Kok, making it easily accessible for everyone. Men Wah Bing Teng specializes in traditional, comforting Hong Kong café cuisine. Its famous menu items include the extremely fluffy Scrambled Egg Sandwich, hearty Borscht Soup with Beef, and its signature Baked Pork Chop Rice. It also offers all the classic drinks like silky milk tea and yinyeung (coffee-tea mix). The pricing is very affordable, focusing on providing excellent value for generous portions. This makes it a favourite spot for daily meals. The brand has built an excellent reputation for its authentic taste, consistent quality, and efficient service. It is highly regarded for successfully preserving the nostalgic vibe and beloved flavours of a traditional local café, making it a top choice for both residents and tourists.

First time to try the egg tart, which is not sweet, the bun which is average...the ying yang is quite good and not sweet....overall experience is not bad for a light snack after shopping

Food’s not bad. The service is really fast and staff were very helpful in helping us with our seats (especially since we had a baby). They very kindly got an uncle to move to another spot so we could have the table which was easier with young children. They also had baby seats, not the high chair kind but those you could put on the benches and buckle your baby on. Very helpful!

Man Wah Bing Sutt in Wan Chai stands out among its other branches with its freshly baked offerings and a creative twist on Hong Kong classics. The bakery here is a highlight—alongside the traditional flaky egg tarts, they serve up unique variations like coffee egg tarts and protein egg tarts, adding a fun spin to the usual cha chaan teng experience. The "ginger-infused pork liver and beef" vermicelli is a winner: the ginger packs a punch, and the pork liver is impressively fresh. The curry beef rice is another strong contender, with a rich coconut fragrance and tender, well-seasoned beef, though it falls a bit short on spiciness for those who crave a kick. The staff are polite and the restaurant itself is newly renovated, spotlessly clean, and welcoming. However, there was a slight hiccup during my visit. One small gripe: the hot coffee and milk tea in the set meals come in disappointingly tiny cups—a larger portion would make the experience even better. A foreign customer came in, and the staff struggled to communicate in English. The automated ordering system is entirely in Chinese, leaving the visitor unable to place an order on their own. Thankfully, a kind fellow diner stepped in to help with the electronic ordering. It’s a small blemish on an otherwise pleasant experience—adding an English option to the system or having staff with basic English skills would go a long way. The food here is a cut above many cha chaan tengs, the prices are fair for the quality, and the clean, modern vibe adds to the appeal. I’d happily return for the inventive tarts and flavorful dishes, especially if I’m in the Wan Chai area.
